Gorgeous art! I’ll have to check out your link to see what they serve in Lima. 🙂 I’m being inspired by “family” things. I’m planning Hungarian Goulash with Spätzle as soon as the paprika gets here. much love, Debra
Hungarian Goulash sounds fantastic, Debra – enjoy! Lima is a food lover’s paradise – it’s worth visiting for just the food alone, although it has a lot more to offer. The best of all is that eating out is super affordable, even in some gourmet restaurants. Another thing is the variety of food grown in Peru, which adds to the variety on the menus. Apparently there are as many as 4000 different varieties of potatoes alone (!), but also many different types of beans, corn and other types of vegetables. I think I should have to consider moving here permanently… 😉

Josh, great to hear from you! Yes, still travellin’!. It’s been a bit of a stretch since my last excursion, so thoroughly enjoying being out and about in another country for a few weeks – more posts about Peru to come. Yes, I agree – some of these murals are very impressive. We actually got to meet one of the mural artists on the walking tour – Jade Riviera (the mural with the heart mask with bird inside).
The mural at the bottom of this selection is of an elderly indigenous lady who, when the mural artist arrived at that place overlooking the ocean, was staring intensely at it – the artist wanted to know about her story and she told him that it was the very first time that she saw the ocean and that it had been her life’s dream to come and see it (if I remember well it was said that she traveled from the Andes.) The artist then asked if she would allow him to capture her eyes and this mural was the result (as told by Gabriel Braun) – amazingly realistic!
