In reply to <a href="https://gypsycafe.org/2026/03/29/beyond-apocalypse-part-3-the-great-crossing/#comment-284977">Dalo</a>.

Randall I appreciate your frank feedback and thank you for the praise. I think it is very good to be skeptical and cycle science can only provide (very) broad outlines of shifts and transformations that do not take place everywhere equally and are mostly subtle. What I find useful is how cycle science provides me with a framework that contextualizes reality in a unique way prompting (further) research into various directions to broaden my own understanding.

As far as consciousness shifts are concerned, they happen primarily on a personal level which is why I so often revert back to Jungian philosophy. The reason why many people felt that the Maya 2012-shift was such a "let-down" was because they externalized the event totally (as people tend to do in a very materialistic age). I will gladly admit though that I'm holding thumbs for a type of revival with regards to the study of cycles in the years to come, but if that doesn't happen I won't be disappointed (as I understand that this is a niche subject area).

According to Edward Edinger, Carl Jung believed that as long as a few people (the number is not that important) in every nation are aware of the importance of the times we are in (that we are undergoing a shift in consciousness) which would lead to a new understanding of our relationship with the Divine, the apocalypse would already have been transcended as the consciousness is already arriving in those who become aware of what is happening in advance.

Jung was actually referring to the end of the 2000-year Christian age (edit: and a transition to a new one), so he was a cycle scientist in his own right, although he did not emphasize the technical aspects of the cycles much. I will be touching on this topic further in the next chapter and also look at prophecies regarding these times, so it's bound to get even more esoteric ...

Wishing you and yours a very good Easter Weekend however you practice or spend it. Enjoy Spring!

Another masterpiece with your research and writing Jean-Jacques. While I’m skeptical of the most part of pinning cosmic transformations of Maya calendrics and cycle science, I can see your path of reasoning. And you weave Jung, Girard, Maya cosmology, and cycle science into a coherent narrative of the Core Transition Era. The idea of the apocalypse primarily as inner revelation and rebalancing of opposites, rather than just outer catastrophe hits, as this is something found across Daoism and other philosophies. Well done!

Randall - thank you very much. Your comment helps me reflect on the process of putting this piece together. I'm drawing here on several years of reading as well as observation. I decided to make use of selected quotes to highlight the importance of the work done by the authors I read and to also make readers aware of them should they want to delve deeper on the themes. The quotes definitely makes a piece like this (which is limited in scope due to space) more powerful than if I had "explained it" with the relevant references. The biggest challenge for me in putting these essays together is to condense a lot of information while also retaining depth and to additionally cover and integrate a lot of unique themes - the overall objective is for the information to be educational, especially for newcomers. I'm always compelled to rather take the time to reach the required objectives rather than rush publication, (which is why there are sometimes delays and I tend to be less active online in-between chapters).

<em>"Reading this piece helped me relax a little around the sense of growing chaos; it helps me view our moment as you say as a liminal phase in a larger World Cycle, which gives the turbulence a different kind of meaning."</em>

Thank you for mentioning this as it was exactly the aim. Yes, the benefit of the cyclical perspective is that we can take some distance from the turmoil and chaos and come to an understanding of the larger processes at work (and our potential positive roles in them - even if that is just to remain calm[-er] within the storms).

I'm wishing you a great Spring and upcoming summer and look forward to reading about your summer trips and journeys. While we are slowly entering autumn here in the Southern Hemisphere we benefit from reading about Spring experiences in the Northern Hemisphere as most media emanates from there.

Cheers and enjoy!

Randall, thank you for your supportive response which I value greatly. Thanks for your patience with my delayed reply as once I venture into the next follow-up essay(s) virtually all my attention is there and I tend to neglect blog commentaries or replies. On rereading this first edition of my newsletter which I just wrote "off-the-cuff" I'm quite happy with it in terms of laying the first stone of what might become a new side-journey. Being a very private person it's been a long time coming, but all things have their good time ...

I hope 2026 has been treating you well so far and I really enjoyed your recent post about Hong Kong with your vivid photos with equally vivid accompanying writing (I'll be replying to your other comment soon).
