Visiting The Chilean Lake District – January 2018

These photographs were taken in the Los Lagos region of Chile, bordering North Patagonia: The lakeside towns of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas are ideal places to take excursions from and there are regular local buses that go to the lakes, volcanoes, nature reserves and lakeside beaches. This gallery features the volcanoes and lakes that I captured in the area during my ten days stay. Please click through the images for details of each place. Thank you for visiting and viewing.

Glad you like them, Josh! I was testing out a new lens and I’m pretty happy with these shots – having said that I put quite a lot of effort into getting the focus and composition right (I purposefully bought a manual focus lens for my digital SLR) and it involved some hiking and a couple of boat trips (which were part of excursions), but was well worth all the efforts in the end.

Excellent landscape photos – the turquoise water looks crystal clear gushing over the rocks! I have read so much about Chile – I would love to go there, top to bottom!

Thank you Marilyn – I appreciate the feedback. I’m happy to say that the lens I used captured the natural colours very accurately and I didn’t make any modifications to these photos. Chile is an amazingly diverse country because of its length spanning across various climates. I haven’t been to the northern parts like Atacama yet, neither to the far south, but hope to go back and also get around to those parts sometime. You could probably catch all the highlights of Chile in 2 – 3 weeks if you plan in it well – its a country well worth visiting i.m.o.
